After a welcoming Bourbon cocktail and reception, Bourbon expert Mark Gruber will give a discussion of Bourbon in America, its history, styles, rules and regulations and today's rarities situation.  Six selected Bourbon whiskies representing different distilleries and styles will be tasted and discussed.  A highlight will be a question and answer session, so bring your curiosity with you. We will also have available an assortment of Bourbon-friendly canapes and hors d'oeuvres prepared by our Executive Chef Patrick Russ. 

Spirits Expert Mark Gruber has been in the hotel, OFF Premise & ON Premise wine and spirits industry in Chicago for over 30 years.  As Director of Spirits Education, Mark offers all SWS-IL employees Spirit Fundamentals Classes and a Bourbon Master Class.  A Chicago native, he has taught both Wine Appreciation and Classic Cocktails classes for over thirty years at his alma mater, Northwestern University.  Mark visited his first bourbon distillery in Louisville, Kentucky in 1983 and has been a passionate advocate ever since. 

Reception from 6 pm - 6:30. Seated lecture and tasting begins promptly at 6:30 pm.
